Unit 7: Affirmative Rebuttal and Arguments
In this unit, you will speak again as the Affirmative / Positive Team for Motion 2. Your task is to respond to the Negative Team, defend the motion, and strengthen your tourism argument.
This unit continues Motion 2 as the third speaking turn in the debate sequence using student login, 3D avatars, recording, transcript, and formative feedback.

Affirmative Rebuttal and Argument Structure
Use this structure to respond politely and strengthen your side:
- Acknowledge: The Negative Team argues that tourism needs modern entertainment attractions to attract diverse visitors.
- Rebuttal: However, our team still supports the motion because modern entertainment can be added, but local Malay culture should remain the main tourism identity.
- Defense: A strong cultural identity makes tourism more meaningful, unique, and beneficial for local communities.
- Evidence or example: For example, Malay cultural festivals, heritage villages, traditional music, pantun, local food, and crafts can create memorable tourism experiences.
- Closing: Therefore, tourism development in Kepulauan Riau should prioritise local Malay culture while still allowing modern attractions to support the experience.
